Doing what you can for the environment

Small changes lead to extraordinary results!!  Here is a list of things we can all do to help:

Change the bulb (buy energy-saving products)

Only light the room you are in

Let the sunshine in!

Adjust thermostat down a couple degrees in winter, up in summer

Shut off your computer and screen, unplug charges when not needed

Turn off televisions and radios when not using (another challenge for kids...)

Use ceiling fans

Walk, bike or take public transportation (ride your horse!!)

Wash clothes in cold water

Recycle!!

A Little Horse Humor

A cowboy rode into town and stopped at a saloon for a drink. Unfortunately, the locals always had a habit of picking on strangers, which he was. When he finished his drink, he found his horse had been stolen. He went back into the bar, handily flipped his gun into the air, caught it above his head without even looking and fired a shot into the ceiling.

"WHICH ONE OF YOU SIDEWINDERS STOLE MY HOSS?" he yelled with surprising force. No one answered. "ALRIGHT, I'M GONNA HAVE ANOTHA BEER, AND IF MY HOSS AIN'T BACK OUTSIDE BY THE TIME I FINISH, I'M GONNA DO WHAT I DONE IN TEXAS! AND I DON'T LIKE TO HAVE TO DO WHAT I DONE IN TEXAS!"

Some of the locals shifted restlessly. He had another beer, walked outside, and his horse was back! He saddled up and started to ride out of town. The bartender left the bar and asked meekly, "Say partner, before you go... what happened in Texas?"

The cowboy turned back and said, "I had to walk home."

Pete and Ivy Ramey have worked hard to produce a 16 hour hoof rehabilitation series due to be released today September 21st. These DVDs are designed to teach equine professionals and horse owners new ways to recognize and treat hoof pathology. It focuses on the ability to identify and recognize a truly healthy equine foot and demonstrates steps taken to drive a pathological hoof towards a healthier state. Oregon School of Natural Hoof Care

Practice_rasp_2EasyCare Dealer Rep. Debbie Schwiebert had the privilege of attending the Oregon School of Natural Hoof Care this past August.   Debbie handles the Hoof Care Professional's Dealer Accounts at EasyCare and was very excited to attend the school and receive some first hand trimming experience.  Cheryl Henderson who runs the school along with Laura Vaughan have dedicated themselves to helping others understand the hoof.  Working together with other hoof care professionals in Oregon, they provide a community service to the equine through monthly free clinics.  Realizing the hoof is the most neglected, misunderstood and owner shunned responsibility of horse care the school aims to change this though education.  For more information on the Oregon School of Natural Hoof Care, contact Cheryl Henderson at 541-899-1535 or www.abchoofcare.com .Mule_trim_2   GroundsKnife_work

Bci_004 Last week EasyCare Representatives were out and about the country.  Chris Freeman and Debbie Schwiebert were on the East Coast showing off EasyCare's line of hoof boots to buyers at the Atlantic City, NJ, Bradley Caldwell buyer show.  Sales Director, Brian Mueller was out in Kansas City, MO to represent EasyCare to Wheatbelt buyers there.  EasyCare's products were very well recieved at both shows as more and more retail stores seek to sell our products.

Old Mac's Horse Boots Testimonial

We bought Pilgrim, a little paint horse, for our trail ride and riding school. He was younger than we thought and his foot not developed enough to shoe. We found riding him barefoot was impossible so we bought another product that really did not stay on or allow him to travel in comfort. Jameswoottonweb

I then bought the Old Mac's and now we can use him full time. The bonus is that we can use these boots on horses that lose a shoe or get stone bruises allowing our horses to have less or no down time. I would recomend this product to anyone, for us they pay their cost quickly and we will buy more. Hope the new product comes out with a longer outside strap to make tightening them easier.

Epic Testimonial...continued....

Here is an update from Danielle.....

8/30: One month already or only? Beautiful full moon at night and now a rising sun with a veil of clouds. Another beautiful day. Assessment of this leg of the trip: 410K, barefoot mostly although some paths are not natural, made of broken rocks and stones. The other paths are not maintained. My prosthetic leg is broken, the pin is lost on the spare one which I replaced with wire. In the meantime I shipped back the broken one, which is the newer one, to be fixed. When it is fixed and when I'll have a shipping address again, they'll ship it to me. I have a new tent to replace the lost one. I lost it the day I broke my prosthetic because I was hoping on one leg and did not attached it well to the horse. I do not think I'll reach the Cathares castles, but the most important is that the horses, my dogs and I are continuing together, happy.

And a note from her Daughter...

8/30: Montbazon: While crossing a village today, a woman offered her her house to stay. But since it was only 3 PM, Danielle declined the offer and wanted to go on until at least 6 PM. The weather changed rapidly and Danielle changed her mind, and was hoping that maybe this lady had a teen ager who could also help her with her phone. She retraced her steps back to the village and tried to find her, unsuccessfully. Meanwhile an other family offered her their house.

Danielle accepted and went to their farm. She put the horses in a field and went to the barn to set up her bed. The hosts insisted on her staying in a bedroom, but Danielle refused. During dinner, one of the children went to the barn and set up a bed for her. Danielle was very surprised and very grateful to such hosts. Danielle put the epic boots on her mares who seems to enjoy them very much. The horse is finally accepting them. I guess he understood the benefit of them for such a long journey.

Adventures in Easyfoam and Easyboot Bare Hoof Boots
by Carol Layton, Australia
Carol Layton using Easyfoamed Bares

Hello from Australia. I had a great ride on the weekend on Omani Mr Sqiggle trialling the Easyfoam with four Bares at an endurance ride held at Windeyer, near Mudgee in NSW (New South Wales). I needed to trial the foam for the Shahzada marathon in the last week of August and now I know this is the answer for us. I am totally delighted with the result, no need to be concerned about the possibility of rubbing from the gaiters. I mean I have been able to do 160km rides and 400km marathons with boots and not had any rubbing from gaiters but this foam means it doesn't need to be on my mind. I don't have to fiddle with Sportstape or vetwrap. It was easy to mix the glue together and put the boots on, we just removed the gaiters.

Click on the link below to learn more about using Easyfoam. It is a great product to use for endurance events, or for weekend or week long camping trips with your horse.

Old Mac G-2's To the Rescue
G2 Testimonial
Georgie Porgie in Old Mac's G2

After our phone conversation today, I wanted to send you a picture of my pony in his new Old Mac G-2's. Georgie Porgie is a 23 yo Welsh pony who foundered about 3months ago.

After the initial dramatic hoof trimming and bandaging, he was extremely tenderfooted and walked slowly and gingerly on his soles, head down, examining every potential bump in his path--not a happy camper. We got our new Old Mac G-2 hoof boots with gaiters, and some frog support inserts, and within about 3 steps, Georgie realized that he could travel pretty much pain free. The head came up, ears were forward, and he walked off with a mission. He even pranced to the field. The boots went on easily, were true fit to the measuring guide, and have not chafed any areas on the foot, even with 14 hrs a day wear.

I'm thankful for Easy Care for offering such a wonderful product that literally got my pony back on his feet and on the road to growing a new foot. The Hoof Boot Upgrade program is a great incentive that makes them very affordable. Your sales representatives were most helpful in helping me choose the right boot and their advice to use Gold Bond powder in the boot before wearing sure keeps the foot clean and dry.

I can highly recommend these boots based on the experience I have had and will spread the word......

Thanks again!

Toni Stevens and Georgie Porgie Brenham, Tx
