We often asked at trade show and other events if horses move differently in our boots. Click here to see a clip of how a horse moves while boot up on all four hooves. We have quite a few interesting videos on our Website. Make sure to check back often as we are always adding updated material.
This video is only showing 1/3 of the picture. It shows 1 horse in boots. We have many variables to work with. Please don't accuse me of stirring the pot, but this video screams at me NEED MORE DATA!! A treadmill with the horse barefoot, then booted, and then shod would be of great benifit. Dr. Jeannie Waldron has done extensive research with her treadmill along with John Crandell as trimmer. The differences were remarkable and this was just using shoes. They tested fad shoes, "regular shoes" and everything in between. It's too bad all those hours of footage and time haven't been picked up by company like easycare.
We could do our own little study if there is a big barn with a tread mill. Same Horse, same speed, just different apparatus on the feet, barefoot to boots then on to shoes. I'd love the opinion of a farrier and vet from outside of our program. If the group would like an answer from Dr. Waldron, I'll happily call and ask.
Maybe this has already been done and I'm not aware if it. If it has, footage please! because I'd LOVE to see it.
This is the nurse coming out in me, methodical.
Regards,
Amy
