Update on Granite Chief 7,000+ miles and still going! By Karen Chaton I sure do like keeping all of my endurance horses barefoot. It sure has simplified things - no more shoeing schedule to worry about! It has also been so good for their overall health and well being. I use Easyboot Epics, Bares and regular Easyboots on Chief and my other horses. I boot all four of his feet for his endurance competitions. I have noticed as I get older time seems to pass more quickly. Only a couple of weeks until spring (March 20th) which is a good time to check your current inventory, place an order and pick up some new items. Although EasyCare is known for our hoof boots, we also have some other great products as well; stirrups, stowaway packs and sheep skins saddle covers to mention a few. I am always surprised when I talk to a dealer, who has not picked up our top selling boot, the Easyboot Epic. The Epic has been out since 2005. We took a great boot in the Easyboot and made it better by removing the inside cleats and adding a gaiter. If you have not added the Epic to your line up, you should bring it in for spring. Thank you Easyboots! Seeing her in no pain was worth all of the effort! I found great interest in reading the stories of barefoot horses and navicular syndrome on the EasyCare website and decided a few months ago to give Kitty one last chance to heal naturally. Most of us at EasyCare welcome the cooler nights and shorter days. Tucson is beautiful this time of year, after spending the last four months with temperatures regularly in triple digits, it sure is nice to sleep with the windows open. We are still very busy, keep the orders coming. Now is a good time to check your inventory and fill any holes. The winners of our 2007 Summer Video Contest have been selected. More info on them below. Be sure to check out the winning videos. We appreciate and would like to thank everybody that took the time to make a video and submit it for the contest. Thanks! We would also like to thank everybody that sent in photos for our 2008 EasyCare Calendar. We received a lot of great photos and are looking forward to handing them out at upcoming trade shows and events. We will also send them out with orders while supplies last. Endurance riders are continuing to prove how well our products work in extreme conditions. Our Marketing Manager, Karen Chaton, said "I just rode a five-day ride and then another two-day endurance ride (350 miles total) in some of the rockiest terrain I've ever ridden and was unable to break or wear out a single boot or part!" We will continue to upgrade and improve our products so that they will work better, longer, and harder for everyone. To date, 75 EasyCare Hoof Boot Contest riders have completed more than 16,000 miles in ride distances of 50 miles or more.

Danielle's Journey Across France with Easyboot Epics I am writing on behalf of my mother Danielle. She has been riding horses since she was a child. She is 61 years old. She has only one leg following an accident when she was 35 years old. She is now on a trip across France starting from Alsace, near Germany, and planning to go all the way to the Cathar country, Carcassone area, Spanish border, and back home. The trip will last about 9 months. She is traveling alone with her 3 horses and 2 dogs. I had a great ride on the weekend on Omani Mr Sqiggle trialling the Easyfoam with four Bares at an endurance ride held at Windeyer, near Mudgee in NSW (New South Wales). I needed to trial the foam for the Shahzada marathon in the last week of August and now I know this is the answer for us. I am totally delighted with the result, no need to be concerned about the possibility of rubbing from the gaiters. I mean I have been able to do 160km rides and 400km marathons with boots and not had any rubbing from gaiters but this foam means it doesn't need to be on my mind. Many people are interested in having barefoot horses that can still be expected to perform at high levels. This interest is often squelched by the fear of having a lame horse, or not feeling confident enough to make the decision to go the barefoot route. I want to share with you the fears I had, as well as the baby steps I took, before making the decision to finally take the barefoot plunge with my competition horse. Old Mac G-2's To the Rescue G2 Testimonial After our phone conversation today, I wanted to send you a picture of my pony in his new Old Mac G-2's. Georgie Porgie is a 23 yo Welsh pony who foundered about 3months ago. After the initial dramatic hoof trimming and bandaging, he was extremely tenderfooted and walked slowly and gingerly on his soles, head down, examining every potential bump in his path--not a happy camper. We got our new Old Mac G-2 hoof boots with gaiters, and some frog support inserts, and within about 3 steps, Georgie realized that he could travel pretty much pain free. Steve Jefferys Steve Jefferys, an Australian Horse trainer, fitted horses with Old Mac's to safely perform at the Asian Games. The Old Mac's gave the horses traction and protection needed to perform at the unique venue. A horse took center stage at the Opening Ceremony of the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006. For the first time in the history of the Games, a horse was involved in the act of lighting the cauldron. Why Not Four?   By Neel Glass, Ph.D, Saddle Action August, 1977   In a year and a half, riding in over 14 rides each, neither Lucille nor I have thrown an Easyboot in competition. In the 1976 Upper Rio Grande 25 and 50 Miler with about 30 entries, at least four finished with at least one Easyboot after throwing shoes. In the 1976 Los Alamos Fifty, three out of the four first finishers including best condition (Gail Price) wore Easyboots from start to finish. The other top finisher purchased a set the next day. The '76 Virginia City 100: there wasn't an Easyboot thrown by any of the riders (at least four) starting with them. I never got a good count on the number of shoes thrown but it was in the dozens. One well known rider and top finisher threw a shoe four or five times (different feet) and used his Easyboot each time to get in for re-nailing. It says that EasyCare products may not be advertised at prices below 15% discount of the manufacturers suggested retail price (MSRP). Authorized dealers may, as always, sell EasyCare products at any price that they see fit. However, EasyCare, in its absolute discretion, will not supply products to dealers who advertise products below a 15% discount of MSRP. "Advertising" includes ads or promotions placed with television, radio, magazines, catalogs or flyers (including direct mail flyers sent by dealers to their customers) and computer network services which may or may not operate over the internet. Advertising of EasyCare products must indicate an actual price and may not be advertised using terms such as "call", "sale", etc. To emphasize, as has always been the case, dealers may charge whatever price they feel is appropriate based upon the retail environment and your individual situation. However, if EasyCare determines that products have been advertised for sale at a price below 15% discount of MSRP or without indicating an actual price, EasyCare may choose to suspend shipments of any or all EasyCare products to such dealer. The Easyboot Grip is designed to increase the traction of a horse in soft muddy conditions, wet grass, snow or other soft surfaces requiring extra traction. The Easyboot Grip is essentially the Easyboot Epic with an aggressive sole and traction tread pattern. Available in sizes 0,1,2, and 3 only. This boot is not recommended for use on ice. EasyUp Buckle The EasyUp buckle is the Easyboot buckle of the future. It fastens in the “UP” position, offering many cable adjustments and stays secure after fastening. Your customers can upgrade their boots to the EasyUp Buckle System. Parts are available for you to install or ship the Easyboot or Epic back to us for installation. Comfort Pad System The Comfort Pad System comes with three different pad styles molded in three different densities. The system allows for many padding combinations for therapeutic reasons while using boots. Comfort Pads Now available in 12mm and 6mm thicknesses. The Cable and Buckle System was attached to the boot with a rivet system. We have changed the design and the Cable and Buckle is now attached with a screw and t-nut system.
