Congratulations to everybody in the EasyCare Hoof Boot Contest - so far they have ridden 10,792 miles this year! Riders using boots on their barefoot horses completed 2,000 miles at the Fort Schellbourne XP! We are working on getting the website updated with the most recent results, so check back on Tuesday to see the updates.
The first photo shows Terri Tinkham on Oliver, who is a gaited horse and they did all 5 days using Easyboots at Schellbourne. The other photo is my horse Chief, after finishing the 3rd day where we rode in snow and mud all day. The boots stayed on both of my horses for all 5 days of the ride! I took the boots off of both horses yesterday and their feet look fantastic.
Here are the current top ten riders, with a tie for 10th: Rabe Dave, Martin Sarah, Tinkham Terri, Horn Lauren, Herman Natalie,
Briscoe Cheri, Benson Sue, Frerking Laura, Schneider Paulette, Bradley
Cindy, Yellow Hair Eva
I didn't see any other brands of hoof boots at this ride - probably just as well, as I doubt that any other's would have stayed on as well in these conditions. On any given day we had 15% or more of the riders starting the ride using boots on unshod horses, plus quite a few more riders using Easyboots over shoes (the old standby for multidays to help reduce concussion on our horses). The best, most reliable, most used, and most durable hoof boot continues to be the Easyboot! :)
