Win an Easyboot Bag!

Cuyama08_002 Only a week left in this blog contest to win an Easyboot bag.  These are useful for a lot of things!  This is the only way to get one of these right now too!  I used one at Cuyama to hold trail marking ribbons in when we went out to mark trail.

Easyboot Bag Blog Contest

EasycarebootbagwebHere's your chance to win one of these Easyboot bags.  These are great!  They clip and tie on to your saddle and can be used to store an extra Easyboot, Epic, or Bare boot -- or you can use it to stash some snacks, lunch, or anything else you'd like to carry on a ride.  They cinch closed so can be opened and closed easily while on the saddle.  They'll fit almost anywhere too - the front of your saddle or back.

To enter all you need to do is send an email to us and tell us which EasyCare hoof boot model is on the horse in our current national advertising.  It should be easy to find the ads as they are in the following magazines:  Trail Rider, Trail Blazer, Horse and Rider, Horse Illustrated, Equus, Western Horseman, The Perfect Horse, Holistic Horse and Endurance News.

Limit of one entry per email address and per household.  We will give away by drawing 15 bags among all correct entries received between now and April 15th.  Winners to be announced on May 1st.

AERC Convention News: Get your Easyboots fixed and help AERC Trails at the same time!

Aerctraildonationbox2 If you are going to be attending the AERC convention and tradeshow in Reno February 29-March 1, 2008 please stop by the EasyCare booth and visit with us!  Chief and I will be there and will be able to answer your questions and show you all of our tricks and tips on using EasyCare boots.

If you let us know now what parts you need, we will be happy to repair your Easyboot, Epic, Bare, Grip or Custom boot (2005 and newer models, so no riveted/older boots).  All we ask is that you make a donation to the AERC trails fund.  Keeping our trails open is very important and we need to do everything we can to help make a difference.

The New Easyboot Name is......

The winner of the contest to name the new boot -- Pete Ramey!  Pete was the only person to suggest the name Easyboot Edge.

It took a lot of time to narrow the names down.  We had nearly 1600 names submitted, in which over 1200 were unique (not duplicated).  We narrowed them down, then voted, narrowed down and voted some more.  Discussed which ones we liked or didn't like, and why.  Then FINALLY late this afternoon we came up with the name of the new boot.  Easyboot Edge!!!

We will be doing more testing of the new boot and only when we are satisfied that it passes all of our tests will it be released to the public.  I am already confident that this boot will be better than any other boot on the market.  It's going to be a really nice boot!

Applications are still being accepted for Team Easyboot, for those that are interested in helping out with the testing process.

Easyboot Hoof Boot Contest

I recently posted the press release that EasyCare put out about the 2008 Hoof Boot Contest.  Riders can win a total of $10,000 (top ten placings) by accumulating mileage using EasyCare hoof boots in AERC and AERA endurance rides.  We changed a couple of the rules for 2008.  Check out Garrett's blog for information on how to win a pair of Easyboots by submitting an entry telling what two rules have been changed.

EasyCare Trivia Contest - Your Chance to WIN!

Kerry1How would you like to win a pair of Easyboots?

I'm going to run this blog contest through the end of the month.  To enter, simply send an email with the answers to the three questions below.  Answers can easily be found on the EasyCare website.

We will draw names out of a boot (of course!) from all entries that have been submitted with the correct answers on Monday, October 1.

Limit of one entry per email address.  If you win and would prefer a different model EasyCare hoof boot, you can apply the value of the Easyboots as a credit towards the boots you do want.  Shipping not included.

Questions:

1)  What is the name of EasyCare's German Distributor?
2)  How much $$ did EasyCare recently award in the form of Scholarships to students in the Equine Sciences Academy?
3)  What is the  name of the currently featured education article, by Dr. Teskey?

Team Easyboot

I'm thinking of setting up a way to qualify riders to ride on "Team Easyboot" for one of the next upcoming point to point endurance rides.  I'm just starting to plan it out now, for 2008 and 2009.  If you have any ideas, suggestions, or recommendations of riders who are using our products successfully and would be interested in this let me know

Suggestions:  we could do one team, or more than one team.  It could be based on riders in certain regions, or with certain breeds of horses, shod, or unshod.  Riders making the team would be eligible to receive benefits of being on Team Easyboot such as having their ride entries or other expenses covered.

EasyCare Hoof Boot Contest Update - we are now over 16,000 miles!

With the most recent results 74 riders in the Easyboot Contest have ridden over 16,000 miles!  It's great to see so many doing so well with this.  We had a few riders at the Virgin Rim ride who are in the contest and they all did really well.  Three of us did both days of the ride.  I rode two different horses and Rick Leonard and Claire Toomey both rode the same horse both days using Epics or Bare hoof boots.   Their horses both looked great at the finish of a tough 100 miles!

Dscf9100_small Dscf9102_small Dscf9104_smallDscf9105_small Here are some photos of Chief's boots that I used on him yesterday.  These boots had all been used before.  I like to use boots that have been broken in prior to any actual competition.  What is great is that you can see in these photos the dome shaped Comfort Pads are in all four of the boots.  I had used them also in advance several times so that they would squish down a bit as they will cause Chief's boots to turn if they are brand new and I start an endurance ride with them.  I had these broken in just right because Chief's boots did not turn at all during the ride and I am very pleased with how good they look after doing all that downhill and going over hard rocky footing yesterday.  Chief's legs are tight and cool today and he looks fantastic.  We'll be driving home tomorrow so he and Tigger are both getting to rest today.  The Bares in the photos have done several endurance rides.  The Epics have too, actually I think only one boot was fairly new and the others have all done at least 250 to 500 miles.  You can tell that Chief is easy on his equipment, which means he is also fairly easy on himself which is why he does so well doing all of these miles.  He is fast approaching the 7000 mile mark.  My remaining goal for this ride season is to try and achieve that milestone with him.  Fingers and hooves crossed!

Hoof boot upgrades

Potyepic Starting in June, EasyCare expanded it's "EasyCare Competitive Hoof Boot Upgrade Program" to include EasyCare boots.  The plan is to donate the boots to horse rescue and rehabilitation organizations.  Turns out that we've gotten a lot more requests for donations than we have had boots turned in!

If you or somebody you know have an EasyCare hoof boot you can trade it in (up to 2 boots) for another model of an EasyCare boot for 1/2 of the cost of the new boots.  It's a pretty good deal if for example you have an old Easyboot and would like to try out an Easyboot BareEasybootbare2web

Here is the press release, and this is the link to the webpage with more details on the EasyCare Hoof Boot Upgrade Program.  We'll do our best to fulfill all of the donation requests as best we can.  If you'd like to request a donation, please use the form on this page

10,792 Miles Ridden in the EasyCare Hoof Boot Contest So Far!

Schellbourne_day3_031

Schellbourne_day3_075

Congratulations to everybody in the EasyCare Hoof Boot Contest - so far they have ridden 10,792 miles this year!  Riders using boots on their barefoot horses completed 2,000 miles at the Fort Schellbourne XP!  We are working on getting the website updated with the most recent results, so check back on Tuesday to see the updates.

The first photo shows Terri Tinkham on Oliver, who is a gaited horse and they did all 5 days using Easyboots at Schellbourne.  The other photo is my horse Chief, after finishing the 3rd day where we rode in snow and mud all day.  The boots stayed on both of my horses for all 5 days of the ride!  I took the boots off of both horses yesterday and their feet look fantastic.

Here are the current top ten riders, with a tie for 10th: Rabe Dave, Martin Sarah, Tinkham Terri, Horn Lauren, Herman Natalie, Briscoe Cheri, Benson Sue, Frerking Laura, Schneider Paulette, Bradley Cindy, Yellow Hair Eva

I didn't see any other brands of hoof boots at this ride - probably just as well, as I doubt that any other's would have stayed on as well in these conditions.  On any given day we had 15% or more of the riders starting the ride using boots on unshod horses, plus quite a few more riders using Easyboots over shoes (the old standby for multidays to help reduce concussion on our horses).  The best, most reliable, most used, and most durable hoof boot continues to be the Easyboot!  :)
