Q: My horse has a combination of bruised soles and
acute laminitis. I do own a pair of Old Mac boots but I don't have any insoles.
Currently I am duct taping foam on the bottom of her front feet. Do you sell
insoles that would work as well as 1 1/2 '' faom. I was specificly wondering
about the Dual Density insoles. Could I put two of them in the boots to make it
softer for her? Thanks for your time!
A: Hello: The insoles are no longer being manufactured, but EasyCare,
Inc. now offers a Comfort Pad that is being used very successfully to add
cushion to the boots. They come in two sizes for the Old Mac boots and are
designed to cut to fit. They are $5.00 per pair and you can call to order if

Hi,
I have a pair of Epics for my horse's back feet. My trimmer removed the strap when the boots were fitted as otherwise they would have been too small. But I have noticed that the boots start to twist with work. What should I do? Try to put the straps back in or try taper straps? Recommendations appreciated!
Thank you

It sounds like you should try putting the straps back in. The boots can stretch slightly with use and in your case it could be just enough to cause the twisting. Putting in the taper straps will cause the boot width to be wider as the metal piece on the taper is flat, not ridged as what comes standard on the Epics.

Uhhhggg
I'm going broke with these boots but really glad I found your page. Anyway, I have Old Mac's Gen 2. My horse seemed to love them. We used them on some rides, and then went on a longer one. He started complaining about 3/4 the way. I walked, wondering what could possibly be wrong. Removal of the boots showed discoloration of the heel bulbs - like bruising. The hoof wall fits well but the bulbs seem to be setting hard on the materials in the rear. Wondering if I need the cushion inserts or to move on to the bares.
