I have been involved with hoof boots and barefoot horses in
some fashion since 1984. During that
time I have been able to watch both hoof boots and the barefoot movement evolve
and change. Although, I believe the barefoot
movement will continue to move forward, I personally see the shortage of
qualified hoof care professionals/natural hoof care providers as the biggest
limiting factor for future growth.
In addition to the lack of qualified hoof care
professionals/natural hoof care providers I also see the current natural hoof
care politics slowing the progress. It
shouldn’t matter what qualifications a hoof care professional has as long as
they provide skilled work. Skilled work
is performed every day by hundreds of trained professionals. These professionals are trained by different
people, different organizations and many hours of hands on experience.
EasyCare has just finished adding a
useful new tool to their website that will help solve the above concerns and
will allow horse owners to search for hoof care practitioners regardless of
their training -- follow this link. From there you can type in your zip code, or
select from a list of other countries if you are outside of the US and search
for a natural hoofcare practitioner.
If you are a hoofcare provider you
can use this link
to add yourself into the database. If
you are already in the system and would like to make changes go to this page.
Please let others know about this
useful new tool so that they can find the help they need! Let your hoofcare practitioner know as well,
so that they can be included in the database. If you have any suggestions, or questions or comments please let us
know.
I hope these tools will help the
barefoot movement continue moving forward.
