Hi, my name is Susan, writing from a great area in South-Eastern Australia.
I have 2 horses, both Arabs: 6yo Danny, yet to compete but March 2008 will be my starting point with him (altho the pic shows us at what turned out to be only a trial run in early 2007); and 3yo Sundance, a cheeky boy yet to be broken in.
Riding shod horses is still very fresh. My own "transition" to barefooting is less than 18 months old.
I'm very motivated to succeed as the area where I live is very traditional re shoeing. Some of my "acquaintences" have kept a careful eye on me, willing me to fail because to succeed would defy their logic.
Luckily I had a great example of "barefoot in action" while riding with a special friend, who motivated me by action not word so I decided to try barefooting when I changed horses, going from a fully competitive gelding to a young, never ridden, never shod horse.
It's been an amazing journey, already learning a lot more about horses and life generally than I would have thought possible from just deciding not to shoe my horse.
I am still at the bottom of the huge learning curve that hopefully will never end, although I do hope to move along it :)
I only trim 3 horses at the moment, 2 of mine, and one friends.
I'm very keen to help people that show interest in following the same path to barefooting. I probably won't ever trim professionally, but do know that since I've started taking responsibility for my horses feet, I've become totally obsessed by it all (one of my best dreams lately involved me doing the ideal trim on my horse...)
Taking my horse barefoot was a halfhearted decision at the time but keeping all my horses barefoot has become a commitment for life.
To have the whole Team Easyboot to learn and share the experience with...Life's good!
