I use G.E. nippers. I had to mail order them, and they weren't cheap, but they are much better than the Diamond nippers you can get at Buchheits, etc. HTH!

I like diamond brand nippers.

I love GE...Diamonds are hard to trim with and not as sharp/staying sharp. GEs are hardy too..have had them stomped on and thrown outta my hands by drafts even and they are still in great shape. They ARE a bit pricer, but you can get them a little cheaper from farrier outlets (like Anvilbrand.com)...Also good, if you have smaller hands, get the "race" ones...they are a little shorter and lighter than the "standard" ones and great for any of us girly-girl types with smaller hands :P THey are worth the price and will last forever (and for 50$, if they eventually have issues, you can send them back to GE for a rebuild, which will make them back to almost new)

I also use GE nippers, in 12" size. They are very precise and easy to handle.

In the 25 plus years I have been doing this I have owned a few different nippers, Diamond, Mustad, GE, Nordic forge.....
GE is hard to beat and thats worth the extra cash
I trimmed over 60 horses this week and only used my nippers on maybe 15 horses (mostly drafts)
For what its worth in the rasp dept.
I like the Simonds heller legend rasp for muddy conditions
Save edge for dryer conditions

I have been using 12" GE nippers professionally for 3 years. They are high quality, easy to operate with one hand, and will work for all sizes of hooves from draft horses to minis.
